<<=C2=A0Having trouble with some of the captive nuts spinning; i.e. the cap=
tive nuts are no longer =E2=80=9Ccaptive.=E2=80=9D=C2=A0 Any advice there?=
=C2=A0 >>
I had the same issue when I did my car.=C2=A0 The "cage" is a piece of shee=
t metal with four sides folded down to hold the nut.=C2=A0 Two are spot wel=
ded to the car body, the other two are free floating.=C2=A0 These two are c=
loser to the nut but will flare out allowing the nut to turn.=C2=A0 I had s=
uccess using a pair of Vicegrip(R) pliers clamping down on the two free sid=
es of the cage and capturing the nut in that way.=C2=A0=C2=A0
Be sure to soak them with penetrating oil as the real culprit is rust.
BTW, the body shop replaced quite a few of those during my restoration.=C2=
=A0 I reassembled with anti seize so the next guy will not have that proble=
m.
